Catherine was worried about the expansion of the country’s educational system. Therefore, in 1786, she adopted a plan that would create a large-scale educational system. However, she couldn’t handle the entire plan, but she established more elementary and secondary schools in the country.

During her power period, she believed not only important for individuals but also helpful for Russia to earn a reputation as a center of civilization. Therefore, under her control, St.Petersburg was constructed as a world’s capitals. Furthermore, painting, theater, and music tremendously flourished due to her encouragement. For the development, she also stated westernization to people in her country and accepted the westernized products.

 

< Love Affairs >

During the Catherine II’s life, her life with love is has been speculated and it‘s a misinformation. Because of her position, which is the highest person in the country, she couldn’t remarry and had limited life related to love. However, behind the external appearance, she seemed to have several sexual appetites. She had around 12 lovers but almost of her affairs was managed for gaining her power. Therefore, she handled her affairs such as bestowing gifts, honors and titles on those she liked to win their favor. Then when the relationship ends, she found a way to get her new partner. For example, Gregory Potemkin is the most significant lover so that she spent most time and also remained as a friend even their relationship ended. Also, she has three more other children except her son Paul who is not certain whether he was a son of PeterIII or not.

Due to her unwanted marriage with Peter III,  she desired love from other people. Even, while Peter was alive, she had other lovers. After Peter's death, she had so many lovers so there were several stories that she changed her lover once a day. She had all three children, however, all of them cannot be certain children from Peter III. For a long time, she didn’t have a particular marriage and long-relationship with a person. Also, her companion, and also a lover, Gregory helped her to gain the political support from important groups. Her real personality was brave, wide and no scareness. Furthermore, she had advanced knowledge and responsibility which made all men obey behind her. When she gain the throne in the age of 33, she already lost her youth, appearance and health. Therefore, it shows that she was able to obtain the support from the military not because of her sexual attraction but high abilities, therefore, she could be respected and got love from many people.
